Peachland zipline company re-announces hopeful opening date

A zipline operator in Peachland has announced a tentative reopening date after prematurely planning to open last month.

Zipzone Peachland had originally said it would open on April 18 but changed those plans. At the time the company said it would exceed safety recommendations set by the World Health Organization and WorkSafeBC and that staff and visitors would have been subjected to temperature checks prior to entering the park.

"Hoping to open May 16. Waiting anxiously for the province to announce their restart plan," the company says on its website.

Last week, B.C. Premier John Horgan announced an economic restart plan for the province.

Under enhanced protocols, sports and recreation will be reopened in some form by mid-May and onwards.

All of the government's reopening plans are based on organizations and businesses developing plans that follow provincial guidelines to control the spread of COVID-19, Horgan said.
