Owner of stolen truck helps Kamloops RCMP catch thief

FILE PHOTO

A man drove off in a truck that was conveniently warmed up for him on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, he wasn't the owner.

Around 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 31, Kamloops RCMP received a call that a stolen truck was travelling down Tranquille Road while the owner followed, according to an RCMP press release.

"Police then followed the truck to a parking lot on Dallas Drive, where a man exited the vehicle and was arrested," Const. Crystal Evelyn said.

The man was later released with conditions and a court date.

Kamloops RCMP reminds the public that it's good practice to avoid leaving a vehicle running while unlocked and small things like that can go along way to prevent crimes of opportunity.
