Overnight snowfall in Okanagan, Kamloops should melt soon

Overnight snowfall amounts varied throughout the Okanagan and Kamloops but one thing the regions have in common is high enough daytime temperatures to melt much of it.

In the Okanagan, there’s a 30% chance of showers through to noon then highs of 5 Celsius today and 6 C tomorrow in Vernon and Kelowna but a couple of degrees cooler in Penticton.

Daytime highs will cool to 1 C to 2 C and cloudy through the weekend with overnight lows of -2 C, according to Environment Canada.

Kamloops has a similar chance of precipitation this morning with highs forecast of only 4 C today and Friday but the weekend is expected to be warmer than in the Okanagan with daytime highs reaching 5 C Sunday and Monday.

Overnight lows in Kamloops are expected to be just below freezing with some sunshine through Saturday then cloudy into next week.

After today, there is no precipitation in the forecast through into next week.

There are no weather warnings for the region but mountain passes should see a mix of rain, snow and freezing rain through this afternoon and into the evening.

The snow and/or rain is expected to end by noon today on Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton.
