A new charge has been laid against the man involved in a serious assault that resulted in the death of an Osoyoos woman last week.
B.C. Prosecution Service communications counsel Dan McLaughlin said in an email one count of manslaughter has been approved against Roderick Ashley Flavell in the death of Tina Seminara, who died from injuries sustained in an assault last week.
Osoyoos RCMP were called to a golf course subdivision residence late on April 8 to find the 61-year-old woman had been seriously assaulted. She was taken to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
Roderick Ashley Flavell, 62, was facing a charge of aggravated assault prior to the manslaughter charge being laid. He remains in custody.
McLaughlin said his next court appearance on July 20 will address the new charge and at some point after that the assault charge will likely be dropped.
He said as the matter is before the courts there will be no further comment from the prosecution service.
