A famous drag performer and multi-instrumentalist is delivering a unique theatrical experience in partnership with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra.

Thorgy Thor, a legendary RuPaul’s Drag Race All Star, is doing two shows at the end of March, featuring a variety of musical hits, blended with comedy in Thorgy & the Thorchestra.

“Thorgy uses unconventional recording materials and music to create unique performances for theatre, film, cabaret, and nightlife entertainment,” a media release by Kamloops Symphony Orchestra reads. “She is an explosive performer who loves to create collaborative performance art that combines drag, music, and comedy.”

Based in New York City, Thorgy created the show in 2018 with Canadian orchestra conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser and has since taken it audiences worldwide.

The artist behind the Thorgy Thor stage character is Shane Galligan who played classical violin at a young age and went on to study music until graduating from the State University of New York with a bachelor of music in viola and violin performance. While studying, Galligan earned an honorary degree in Drag Ridiculousness and starred in theatre productions.

“Everyone at the KSO is excited to share the stage with fierce and fabulous multi-disciplinary artist Thorgy Thor," the orchestra's music director Dina Gilbert said in the release. "You can expect to hear Tchaikovsky and Rossini as much as music from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. One thing is certain, Thorgy will light the stage with her incredible energy, spontaneity, and love of music.”
