Part of Glenmore Road North in Kelowna is closed after a pickup truck left the road and slammed into a power pole this morning.

The crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. today, Dec. 21, according to an RCMP media release. The driver wasn't hurt.

A Fortis B.C. crew is repairing the damaged pole so the northbound side of the road is closed between Slater Road and Hilltown Drive. No word on how long the closure will last.

RCMP have received numerous reports of collisions today as a winter storm moves through.

“Road conditions are icy throughout our jurisdiction, and especially in areas where elevation increases,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a media release. “We are expected to continue to have snow or rain throughout the rest of the day. Before you head out on the road, make sure your vehicle is winter ready, and slow down out there so you can get where you’re going safely.”
