There were 832 new COVID-19 cases recorded in B.C. in the last 24 hours with the largest proportion being in the Fraser Health region.
The 153 new cases recorded in the Interior Health region is on par with the widely fluctuating new cases numbers over the last few days.
While the B.C. numbers fluctuate as well, this was the highest daily case count this month and included 377 new cases in the Fraser Health region, 117 in Northern Health, 114 in Vancouver Coastal and 71 on Vancouver Island, according to a Health Ministry news release today, Sept. 23.
Five more people died in the last 24 hours, including two in Interior Health. COVID has now killed 1,915 B.C. residents.
There are now 5,697 active cases in B.C. with 330 people in hospital, 148 of whom are in intensive care. Interior Health has 1,181 active cases.
From Sept. 8 to 21, 82.6% of people hospitalized with COVID-19 were not fully vaccinated.
So far, 87.3% of people over the age of 12 have had at least one dose of vaccine with 79.9% getting two doses.
