A North Okanagan winery owner has been charged with drunk driving.

Waterslide Vinyard and Winery owner Kevin Verschoor had his first court appearance today, Sept. 24, having been charged with two counts of drunk driving.

Verschoor was charged with operating a vehicle with blood alcohol over 0.08% and impaired operation of a vehicle.

The incident happened in Enderby, June 9, although the drunk driving charges weren't laid until a few days ago.

Details of the incident aren't known but it appears that the 48-year-old was involved in some sort of crash as he was also issued a ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident that took place on the same day, June 9.

According to the winery's website, Verschoor bought Waterside Vineyard and Winery in Enderby in 2018.

When reached for comment, Verschoor's wife Jennifer said: "Have a nice day and don’t report anything."

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Verschoor is next due in court Oct. 22.
