The Penticton Indian Band has gone eight days without a positive COVID-19 test result.

The band’s health team conducted five tests on Feb. 9 with all results coming back negative, a notice to the community stated on the band’s website yesterday, Feb. 10.

The band is now making safety plans to reopen their facilities and are reminding members to remain vigilant and continue to follow the highest standards of safety practices and guidelines.

“While we are preparing to reopen, we must consider the highest standards of prevention to ensure that we can continue serving you,” the notice stated, also thanking the band’s health team and Interior Health for their efforts to bring the COVID-19 cluster to full containment.

The band reported 12 positive COVID-19 tests within the community on Feb. 2, resulting in closing of the band’s administration offices and the issuing of a stay at home or shelter in place declaration.
