Parents will now be able to track their kids on the ski hills thanks to skiKrumb’s new GPS-enabled device launching this season at Apex Mountain Resort near Penticton.
SkiKrumb’s devices will hold long-lasting batteries and advanced technology that is unmatched by cellphones and other GPS-enabled devices, making it one of a kind for parents who wish to be at peace while their little ones are skiing, according to a media release from the company.
The devices will be able to show live locations on the ski hills allowing for its users to find each other should they get lost or want to go down a slope together.
“After years of research and development to bring this product to market, and as a parent who experienced being separated from my son on the hill, I am so pleased that we’re able to provide parents with peace of mind during a day on the slopes," founder and CEO of skiKrumb Keith MacIntyre said in the release.
“I’m especially thrilled to be partnering with Apex Mountain Resort to bring skiKrumb’s functionality to their guests this upcoming ski season. With live locations and daily replays, families can focus on fun at the resort.”
The collaboration between Apex Mountain’s infrastructure and the device’s hardware and software is what makes it unique to the market, and makes it a much more trusted and durable device, the company said.
“Apex Mountain Resort is a very family friendly mountain due to its layout, and now, with the addition of skiKrumb, parents can have peace of mind while their kids are off riding," resort manager James Shalman said in the release.
The device will be available to rent for one-day, five-day or 10-day periods at Apex Mountain this season. Discounted pre-orders are available at skiKrumb’s website here.
The company will be showing off the devices at the upcoming Apex Ski Patrol Ski and Board Swap at the Penticton Curling Rink on Friday Sept. 15, and Saturday, 16.
