KELOWNA – A new smartphone app will take you on a walking tour of downtown as you chase virtual pigs through the streets of Kelowna.
Pigs On Bernard is in partnership with the Kelowna Museums Society and gaming company QuestUpon. By answering trivia about the area and taking photos of the pigs that appear in the app at various locations, users are taken on a historic tour that provides fun for all ages while teaching about the history of Kelowna along the way.
All this week, users can track the virtual swine from Bernard Avenue to the Museum, where upon successful completion they are entered into a draw to win a herd of chocolate pigs from Annegret’s.
Linda Digby, Executive Director of Kelowna Museums Society, calls the unusual strategy both innovative and inspiring.
“By pairing up cutting edge virtual technology with the telling of the story of Kelowna’s rich, cultural heritage, we bring the past to life in a brand new way,” she says.
The free app is available for both Apple or Android smartphones.
