KAMLOOPS - A Kamloops resident has launched a new delivery service that hopes to meet all the needs of residents across the city.

Unlike SkipTheDishes, a popular food delivery service that brings meals from various restaurants right to your front door, Mitchie’s Delivery can bring you anything offered by stores, restaurants, pharmacies and more across the city.

“We do groceries, prescriptions, flowers, anything people need,” says owner Mitchel Hughes. “If it’s legal and fits in my car, we will deliver it.”

Hughes says he was working two jobs when he decided to start his own business. It was when he got sick and had to take time off work, Hughes began to make a gameplan for his business.

“I’ve always liked driving and I just started doing deliveries for a couple of pizza places and I went and got my business license and it just kind of escalated,” he says.

Hughes says he currently has 16 drivers and plans to hire another handful of drivers by the end of the week.

“Each driver will probably work one or two times a week,” he says.

Currently, Hughes says he is in the process of setting up his website that is set to launch on Saturday. People will be able to access delivery services through the website, phoning in, and by direct messaging the company’s Facebook page.

The flat rate for in-town deliveries is $6, $8 for out of town and $10 for areas out further.

“There will never be a charge based on kilometres or anything like that,” he says. “It will always be a flat rate.”
