With Halloween just weeks away, two stores in Kelowna report they're packed with customers looking for the perfect costume.

While last year Cruella de Vil and Squid Game costumes dominated sales at Calowna Costume store, this year it is everything Marvel and DC comic characters.

“Top ones are Batman, Superwoman, Iron Man, Hulk and characters from the Justice League and the Avengers,” store employee Laura McKenzie told iNFOnews.ca. “There are so many I can’t remember them all.”

She said the store has been packed on the weekends and she herself is wearing costumes to work every day.

Several Marvel movies were released this year including Morbius, Moon Knight and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Superheroes are also at the top of the list at Halloween Alley this year.

“The other most popular costumes going out are any of the characters from Star Wars and Game of Thrones,” store employee Amelia Grindall said. “Superhero costumes are always a favourite.”

She said the store is packed after school hours and on weekends with excited kids coming in with their parents.

The staff participates in the fun too.

“A lot of staff members are dressing up in animal costumes or occupational, career type costumes.

“It is fun to see so much Halloween spirit.”
