The search for a missing Kelowna man came to an end when his bones were discovered in Kamloops.
Kamloops RCMP confirmed today, Jan. 27, Joe Driscoll's remains were found at Peterson Creek Park on Jan. 19.
Driscoll, 42, was last seen on Nov. 12 in the Valleyview area. Police notified the public he was missing five days later.
“In working with the BC Coroner’s Service and with the Driscoll family, police can now confirm the bones did in fact belong to Joseph, and that he is deceased,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in a news release.
“We do not suspect criminality in his disappearance at this time.”
Driscoll's family told iNFOnews.ca he initially went to Kamloops for a concert. He was known to be travelling with another man on Nov. 11 and he was later spotted on a Valleyview motel's surveillance around midnight, Nov. 12.
After at least one search party in the area and a $10,000 reward offered up by his family, Driscoll was never found until someone spotted his remains on Jan. 19.
Kamloops RCMP said last week the B.C. Coroners Service would first confirm whether the remains were human, then an identity.
The Driscoll family has requested privacy at this time.
Both RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate to determine circumstances surrounding the discovery of the remains.
