A 22-year-old woman reported missing on Sunday has been reunited with her parents.

North District RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson told iNFOnews.ca Amy Anonby had been found in the early evening yesterday Aug. 26, on a back road northwest of Clearwater.

A family friend told iNFOnews.ca Anonby had been following her GPS and heading to a remote cabin when a tire on her car spat up a rock puncturing her oil pan and causing the vehicle to breakdown. The GPS had taken her on the wrong road.

With no cell service, Anonby spent the night in her car, where she was even visited by a "curious" bear during the night.

The next day she pushed the car into the middle of the road to make it more visible and highlighted the car with mirrors and signs hoping it would be seen.

Search and Rescue teams from Wells Gray and 100 Mile House found Anonby at around 7 p.m. Aug. 26. She was reportedly dehydrated and a bit hungry, but otherwise fine.

Anonby was reunited with her parents shortly afterwards who said they'd had the longest day-and-a-half of their lives.

Anonby was originally reported missing Aug. 25, after she had not been seen since leaving Vernon at around lunchtime and did not arrive at the Mahood Lake area south of Wells Gray Provincial Park as expected.
