MERRITT - A local animal shelter is asking for your help in finding the person responsible for the gruesome killing of a dog near Merritt.

Angel's Animal Rescue, located in Merritt, says on its Facebook page that a dog had its muzzle wrapped with barbed wire and was hanged at the Coldwater Reserve.

The shelter posted on its Facebook page last week, Nov. 18, that it is offering a substantial reward for anyone who has information on the situation.

Judanna Dawn, caretaker at Angel's Animal Rescue, says she hopes something good will come out of this tragic situation.

"We hope that this dog's life can mean something," Dawn says.

She says since Merritt RCMP has taken over the investigation, she can't comment on specifics of the case, but she hopes the public will come forward with any details.

"Be brave, don't turn a blind eye to what you know is wrong," the shelter says in its post.

If you have any information on the situation, you're asked to call Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262 or Angel's Animal Rescue at 250-378-5223.
