TOP PLACES FOR TOBOGGANING, SKATING, SKIING, SNOWSHOEING AND ICE FISHING LAID OUT ON A MAP
VERNON - The winter playground of the North Okanagan awaits.
The region might be known for its beaches, hiking trails and parks in the summertime, but it has just as much outdoor fun to offer in the colder months. Icy lakes become a destination for skating and ice fishing, mountains a heaven for skiers and snowshoers, and parks a place to toboggan.
Silver Star Mountain Resort is your one-stop shop for downhill and nordic skiing, skating, snowshoeing and tubing, but there are many other gems in the North Okanagan where you can enjoy the winter season. Larch Hills in Salmon Arm has a vast network of cross country trails, as does Sovereign Lake.
For kids — including the kids in all of us adults — there are numerous destinations for tobogganing. Many of the school yards in the area have excellent sledding hills.
Check out the map below for some of the area’s most popular destinations for winter activities. If we missed a location, let us know. We need your help to build the map.
