A man who was wanted on a national level was found and arrested in the Shuswap this week.

The Salmon Arm RCMP and the Southeast District Emergency Response Team were at a residential address in Eagle Bay working on an investigation that started the previous day, June 15, according to a press release from the RCMP.

They learned a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was possibly at the residence. An investigation was completed but the suspect fled the residence prior to police arriving, according to the RCMP.

Police officers searched for the suspect for several hours, until a tip from the public was received and he was found just after midnight in the Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road area, said Staff Sgt. Scott West, Salmon Arm RCMP commander.

He was arrested without incident.

The suspect remains in custody at this time awaiting a future court date.
