A man was found dead after a fire in Kamloops early this morning and police have launched a sudden death investigation.
BC Ambulance and Kamloops Fire Rescue responded to a fire at the corner of 8 Street and Tranquille Road just before 2 a.m. today, April 7, according to a press release from police.
Paramedics tried to put the fire out while firefighters were en route.
Once the blaze was out firefighters discovered the body of a man who hasn’t been identified yet.
“It is too early to determine the cause of the blaze or confirm whether criminality is suspected,” Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said in the release. “At this point, we are asking area residents to contact police if they have CCTV cameras that capture the building at the north west corner of Tranquille Road and 8 Street, 52 Tranquille Road, or the nearby areas.”
Anyone who was in the area between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. today has been asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and use the file number 2025-9989.
