Man crushed in recycling truck in Penticton has died

The 52-year-old man who was crushed by a recycling truck in Penticton has succumbed to his injuries.

The man’s immediate and extended family have been made aware of his death, according to an RCMP press release issued today, April 7.

During the early hours of April 5, the man was sleeping in an unlocked dumpster which was dumped into the back of a recycling truck and then compacted. Police reported at the time he suffered life-threatening injuries.

RCMP said the investigation remains ongoing but the man does not appear to be the victim of a crime.

A separate “parallel fact-finding” investigation is being conducted by the B.C. Coroners Service, RCMP said.

Anybody with information to help the investigation is asked to call the Penticton RCMP detachment at 250-492-4300.
