VERNON - Charges have been laid in connection with a drug lab that was busted last year in Vernon.

Police, along with Health Canada and federal RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response Team, descended on the Silver Star Road property on March 31, 2017 and spent several days examining and dismantling the operation.

Police initially detained one person but later released him pending further investigation.

Court records show Jason Martin Lukacs, born in 1983, was charged on Thursday, June 21, with one count of producing methamphetamine and one count of producing fentanyl. He has yet to make a first court appearance.

Police were permitted to make a single entry into the house and cargo trailers on the property to seize drugs, documents identifying people with knowledge or control of the property, electronic correspondence, and equipment such as glass containers, fans and chemicals, according to court documents.

In early April of 2017, police said it would take several weeks to analyze material found at the scene.

None of the allegations against Lukacs have been proven in court.
