Man and dog rescued after vehicle ends up in river channel near Osoyoos

Osoyoos RCMP came to the rescue of a motorist after he drove into the river channel north of Osoyoos Lake yesterday morning.

Police and emergency services from Osoyoos and Oliver were summoned to a dike roadway along the river channel north of Osoyoos Lake at around 10:24 a.m. yesterday, April 19, to find a man had driven his Jeep Cherokee into the river channel.

Neither the man or his dog, who was also in the vehicle, was injured, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver was transported to hospital for a medical assessment and the dog was secured with animal control, RCMP said.
