A man died of stab wounds that were sustained in Williams Lake on Thursday night and police are considering it a homicide.
The incident was reported to police shortly after 11 p.m. on May 5, according to a RCMP press release.
Local officers and members of B.C. Emergency Health Services attended the scene immediately and located the victim.
He was taken to the hospital where he died, “despite all efforts,” according to the release.
The North District Major Crime Unit has been working “tirelessly” on the investigation since taking it over, the release said, adding that the team is working closely with the Williams Lake RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service.
“We are in the infancy stages of our investigation; however, the early indications suggest that this was a targeted attack, although a full determination has yet to be made,” Sgt. Chris Manseau said in the release.
Anybody with surveillance or dash cam footage of the Midnight Drive – where the stabbing is believed to have happened – is asked to share it with the major crime unit by calling the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
