Over one million lights are ready to shine at the 25th annual holiday light festival at B.C. Wildlife Park in Kamloops.

While traditional festival favourites are returning, there are some new fun activities and displays coming this Christmas season.

The popular festival starts off quietly this year on Dec. 9, with the first ever sensory-friendly night offered at the park.

Hosted in partnership with the Canucks Autism Network, the evening promises to be a quieter and more supportive experience with no music and a quiet space available for anyone needing a break. Trained staff will be stationed at busier areas, providing support and sensory kits available for loan, according to the wildlife park's website.

Also on Dec. 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. is an opportunity to meet author and illustrator Loraine Kemp who worked closely with the B.C. Wildlife Park on her newest children’s book about a young cougar.
