KAMLOOPS — The announcement from Landmark Cinemas that it would be ceasing operations at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Kamloops came earlier today, but already a property management company has stepped in to take over.

Kelson Group’s vice president Jason Fawcett told iNFOnews.ca today, April 11, they have an agreement to purchase the building next week.

“It was a property that was for sale and we decided to make an offer to buy it,” Fawcett says.

Although plans of the building are still in the works, Fawcett says the goal is to keep the theatre operational.

“We are not completely sure what that will look like yet,” he says. “Downtown Kamloops will continue to have a viable movie theatre.”

Landmark Cinemas announced on their website they will cease operations at the theatre on April 17.
