The people have spoken and Kelowna's new huge snow blower has a name.

Sue Robinson’s suggestion of Snownado took top spot in Kelowna’s name the snowblower contest with 34% of the vote. It was one of 10 names voted on by 17,000 residents over the past two weeks.

Snownado collected almost 6,000 of those votes, according to a City of Kelowna news release issued today, Feb. 7.

There were more than 900 submissions for names. City staff narrowed them down to 10 with voting taking place from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3.

There are a few other snow plow naming contests in Canada but Robinson’s Snownado seems to be unique amongst the various winners.

One of those contests was in Calgary in 2021. That city named 78 snow plows. None of them were called Snownado.

Now, all that's needed is some fresh snow to show it off.
