KELOWNA – A brave Kelowna woman is using social media to share her personal story of domestic abuse.
Selina Morrison says her ex-boyfriend abused her both physically and emotionally and she is making her story public on her Facebook page.
Two videos she has released since Feb. 8 have almost 40,000 views.
“As I was sitting in my bathroom being yelled at and disrespected in a way I’ve never been disrespected in my whole life, I sat quietly with my hands folded in my lap trying to will my body to stop shaking,” she says in one of the videos. “I knew that with every tear, with every tremble, his rage was increasing.
“When he pushed me against the wall and told me he was going to break my teeth out of my head I was convinced I wasn’t going to be conscious for much longer.”
Morrison says she decided to go public with her experience after the man, who she names in the video, breached a restraining order shortly after RCMP released him from custody.
“For over a decade he has been abusing, overpowering and degrading women.”
Morrison is now asking the public to share her story and message that abuse should never be tolerated.
“I imagined all of the amazing people in my life. The women who I am given the beautiful gift to inspire every day, they give me the strength and the power and the belief that I could stand up to him.”
