KELOWNA - Usually the excitement of a flash mob comes from the surprise of a bunch of people breaking out into dance in a public space. However, we are getting a heads-up about a flash mob taking place in downtown Kelowna on Saturday.

notTV is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by filming a flash mob at The Sails in downtown Kelowna on Saturday at 3 p.m., according to a media release.

The organization is getting help from local musicians to perform the song With a Little Help From My Friends.

The flash mob film shoot is meant to promote the launch of notTV, an independent Kelowna-based technology company that will provide a Canadian alternative to Netflix, with strong focus on community.

“As a Canadian company, we believe in the power of place,” founder and CEO Travis Cross says in the release. “We’ll start by streaming Canadian-only content, and down the road we’ll make it so you can choose to stream, for example, only music videos from your hometown.”
