Teenagers from around the city were planning to gather at École Kelowna Secondary School to watch a fight, but school administrators caught wind of the plans and were able to prevent it from happening.

When staffers found out about the fight they responded quickly, according to a Central Okanagan school district release issued today, Nov. 9.

Students from other schools planned to attend the fight around noon.

RCMP sent Community Youth Safety officers to the scene and the fight did not occur as a result of their attendance, the school district said. An investigation is ongoing.

In addition to the officers attending, there was a hold and secure at the high school that required some students to return to class ten minutes before the end of the lunch.

Those students had to stay in their classrooms until all the students from the other schools dispersed. Classes then resumed as normal.
