KAMLOOPS - Police were called to McArthur Island Park earlier today where two teens got in a fight, one of them ending up with a knife wound.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that officers were called to the park at roughly 3 p.m. today, Sept. 27, after some teenagers had gathered near the skateboard park and two male teens entered into a consensual fight.
Shelkie says one of the teens had a "wooden handle" and was using it as a weapon. The other teen allegedly pulled a pocket knife in self-defence and the first teen ended up with a minor wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital.
All of the other teens remained on scene and spoke with officers, Shelkie said.
There was no risk to the public, and all investigation information will be forwarded to Crown counsel who will determine charges.
