KELOWNA - Everyone is safe but unfortunately not the home after a serious house fire near Gallagher's Canyon last night.

Kelowna Fire Department says the home on Verde Vista Road was badly damaged and is uninhabitable. Several 911 calls alerted firefighters to the fire around 8 p.m. Jan. 2 and crews found a "fully involved building," Platoon Capt. Steve Wallick says. Three adults escaped without injury.

Wallick put 15 personnel on the fire, aided as well by RCMP, ambulance and a city sanding truck.

Cause is unknown at this time.
