A Kelowna nurse who said that wearing a mask was a "load of horse shit" is set to face a disciplinary hearing with the nursing regulator next month.
According to an Oct. 14 B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives decision, registered nurse Sean Taylor also made comments about going to "play paintball" with Black Lives Matter protesters and said the influenza virus came from China because of "Chinese culture."
It appears Taylor was working at Kelowna General Hospital when he made the comments.
Taylor, who also ran as a People's Party of Canada South Okanagan-West Kootenay seat in the 2021 Federal election and came last, is scheduled for a three-day hearing with the regulator for comments he made between March and November 2020, while identifying himself as a registered nurse.
The decision said Taylor made comments regarding COVID-19.
"(Y)ou will get people to wear your masks and put them in your internment camps... but there is a group of people, myself included, and you, and a bunch of friends, who will not comply. We will meet you in the streets and do this the old-fashioned way," Taylor is quoted as saying.
The nurse also said when referring to the Black Lives Matter movement that the right was showing too much restraint and, "I wanna take a road trip and go down and play paintball."

The regulator said Taylor also gave an interview to Global TV about allegations that hospital staff in B.C. had been playing a racially motivated game of guessing a person's blood alcohol level.
The interview was filmed outside the Kelowna hospital with Taylor wearing his scrubs and a stethoscope around his neck.
"In the segment, you discussed allegations of racial discrimination against Indigenous patients and expressed the view that such news resulted in patients making allegations of racism against a nurse when they do not get their way," the decision read.
Taylor also made comments about COVID-19 and allegedly told patients there were no cases admitted to the hospital and no virus in the hospital.
He also stands accused of saying "I don’t wear a mask…it’s a load of horse shit."
The nursing regulator said the comments constitute professional misconduct and unprofessional conduct.
None of the allegations have been proven.
