A Penticton nurse has lost his nursing licence for bullying and harassing his former colleagues, along with a string of other conduct issues, while working at a long-term care facility in Summerland.

According to an Oct. 7 B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives, licensed practical nurse Amandeep Sidhu worked at the Summerland Seniors' Village and was often the nurse in charge.

The nursing regulator said Sidhu bullied and harassed his former colleagues while working at the seniors' home.

The College also said in October 2020, while conducting a neuroassessment of the resident, Sidhu acted in a "neglectful manner."

The regulator said despite overwhelming evidence, he then failed to take responsibility for his misconduct.

"Mr. Sidhu admits that his conduct amounts to professional misconduct and unprofessional conduct within the meaning of the Health Professions Act," the decision read.

The College cancelled his nursing licence, and Sidhu signed a consent agreement agreeing to the cancellation of his licence and stated he will not reapply for registration for any nursing position for one year.

The regulator also said Sidhu agreed to pay part of the costs to the nursing College to cover the legal fees incurred from the investigation into his nursing practice.

Correction: This story was updated at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, to state that Sidhu had his licence cancelled, not suspended as an earlier version of this story said.
