The hotel where Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson stayed while filming in Kamloops is commending him for his act of charity.

In a video posted to his Instagram page, Gibson explained he had a suite booked for a night that he didn't need, because he finished filming early.

He said he saw a homeless family of six outside and gave them his comfortable place to stay.

The six people were directed to enter with their room keys through the underground parking to avoid being stopped at the front desk.

The Sandman Signature Hotel confirmed in a statement Dec. 17 that Gibson had been their guest, and weren't aware that he'd given his rooms to a homeless family.

"We commend him for his generous act of kindness, but were not made aware of his donation as his guests entered the hotel through underground parking, bypassing the front desk," a representative said in a statement.

"We are happy to confirm his guests enjoyed a good night's sleep and checked-out on Friday, December 11th, as per Mr. Gibson's reservation with all security and Sandman PureClean health and safety protocols diligently followed."

Gibson concludes the short video about the experience with a challenge to all watching to help others, and to do more for people who have fallen on hard times.
