After wrapping filming in Kamloops early, Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson had three rooms booked for a night that he didn't need. He decided to put them to good use.

In a video posted to his Instagram page, the star explained that he'd seen a homeless family of six outside in -7 C weather, and wanted to offer them his rooms.

"I hope that they come in here and feel blessed," he said in the video.

"Even if it's just for a night and a morning."

The family gladly accepted Gibson's offer, and were directed to enter with their room keys through the underground parking to avoid being stopped at the front desk.

Gibson concludes the short video with a challenge to all watching to help others, and to do more for people who have fallen on hard times.

"If you see someone sleeping outside in the freezing cold, don't turn a blind eye. Do something," he said.

"Buy them blankets. Give them food, warm water, something, anything."
