A popular Kamloops lottery that will allow one lucky winner to walk away with a $700,000 home temporarily shut down this morning due to the high traffic on the website.

The Kamloops Y Dream Home Lottery is a popular fundraiser for the YMCA in the community and each year tickets sell out fast.

The website is now up and running, but the Kamloops Y Dream Home Lottery team says there may be delays due to the high volume of traffic.

"If you have any errors while checking out, please refresh and keep trying. You will get through," reads the Y's Facebook post.

Some have reported on Facebook that after two hours of trying, they were finally able to purchase tickets.

The $719,100 dream home has a total of 2,802 square feet with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and is located at 105-2575 Elston Dr.

You can buy tickets until June 27 at 5 p.m.

The dream home lottery winner will be announced June 30 at 9 a.m., and will be live streamed from the dream home location.

Last year, Kamloops resident Nicole Larson and her daughter were the winners of the 2020 Y Dream Home. Their home at #160-200 Grand Boulevard in Kamloops was worth $696,800 at the time.

— This story was updated at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 to say the website was up and running again.
