Kamloops RCMP search for man allegedly chasing children

Police are searching for a man in Kamloops who has been chasing children through a park.

Kamloops RCMP were called about a man who came out of some bushes, taunted a group of children on bikes, and then started chasing them through Albert McGowan Park on Summit Drive around 5:50 p.m. on May 13.

Police received a similar complaint about a month earlier around 6:20 p.m. on April 16, according to a press release from RCMP.

In both cases the man seemed to be with a woman who was nearby.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is looking to speak with the man, the woman he was with, or someone who may know him, to discuss the report and help further the investigation,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

The man is described as Caucasian 40 to 50 years old, heavy set, a pronounced lower lip and balding. He was seen wearing a grey or black shirt and grey shorts. The woman is described as Caucasian with salt and pepper hair in a bun, and she was seen in a coral shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-14277.
