RCMP have launched a suspicious death investigation after a body was found in a car in Kamloops last night.
Officers were called to a "suspicious occurrence" at around 10 p.m. yesterday, March 17, in the 1600 block of Monterey Place in the Dufferin neighbourhood where they discovered a deceased person in a car, according to an RCMP news release.
“Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity,” Kamloops RCMP serious crime unit Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe said in the release.

Wiebe's unit, along with the general investigation team, the forensic identification unit and the police dog service are all involved in the investigation.
The B.C. Coroner's Service has launched its own separate investigation.

“More information will be released to help further the investigation as it becomes available," Wiebe said.
Police have neither identified the person, nor said whether it's being treated as criminal.
