KAMLOOPS - Kamloops RCMP have arrested two suspects and removed a young child from a North Shore home following a substantial drug bust last night.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says police arrested a man and woman, both 28-years-old, and both previously known to them. The pair have been released from custody pending their upcoming court dates.
Shelkie says police obtained two search warrants yesterday, Nov. 30, for two separate units inside a complex at 689 Tranquille Rd. Police moved in overnight and made the arrests.
A child younger than 5-years-old was found in the unit during the arrests, and is now in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, she says.
RCMP seized "trafficking quantities" of heroin, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, more than $40,000 in cash, drug packaging materials, drug consumption materials and three hydraulic drug presses.
"There are other people associated to these units and we anticipate there will be more arrests related to this incident," Shelkie says.
