Kamloops RCMP were called to a Columbia Street motel Sunday afternoon following reports of a man "stabbed in the heart."

According to a Kamloops RCMP media release, officers attended the motel in the 500 block of Columbia Street West at roughly 12:15 p.m. March 7.

"Upon arrival, police located a man with non-life-threatening cuts on his body. He was transported to hospital," Kamloops RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

A Kamloops RCMP police dog conducted a search of the area, but no one was located.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in black clothing.

Police say the victim is not cooperating with police.

No other details were given.
