A suspected drug dealer is in custody after Kamloops RCMP searched a motel room on Sunday and found drugs, cash and a handgun.
Officers were were investigating a suspect wanted for flight from police, dangerous driving and prohibited driving offences when they arrived at an unidentified motel in the 2400 block Trans Canada Highway East at around 7 a.m. March 23, according to an RCMP media release issued today, March 27.
While arresting that suspect, officer say “items consistent with drug trafficking inside the motel room,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
“A handgun, firearm magazines, cash and suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and crack cocaine were seized as part of the ongoing investigation,” she said.
The suspect arrested for the driving offences was release with a court date.
The suspect drug dealer was arrested and released from custody but charges will be recommended to the BC Prosecution Service.
“The investigation into the drugs and weapons offences is separate and ongoing, as officers continue to collect and analyze evidence, including forensic examinations and reports,” the release said.
