UPDATE: Several arrests during Kamloops RCMP raid at known problem house

Kamloops RCMP have multiple people in custody after executing a search warrant in the city's Brocklehurst neighbourhood.

Officers showed up to execute a search warrant on the 1100 block of 13 Street at around 2 p.m. today, Dec. 8, according to an RCMP news release.

The heavily-armed emergency response team was on the scene to assist in an investigation into allegations of forcible confinement, threats and firearms offences. The home has been known to police for some time.

Alissa Henderson lives on 13 Street and said there's been suspicious activity in the area for months and police regularly respond to the home.

"Many times driving home from work... there would be cops in front of the house, so everyone was always on edge about that house," she told iNFOnews.ca.

Knowing there are guns involved in the investigation added to her anxiety about being around the house, but she's hoping today's arrests will calm the area.

Officers took "several" people into custody, but did not specify how many, RCMP said.

“Due to the nature of the investigation and the risk assessment conducted, the Kamloops RCMP detachment engaged the assistance of the (emergency response team) for entry into the associated residence,” RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley said in a news release.

“Neighbours inside the containment area were requested to stay inside their homes as a safety precaution, until the suspects involved were taken into custody and the area was confirmed as safe.”
