Kamloops police seize guns, drugs and stolen cars

Kamloops RCMP recovered guns, drugs and stolen cars while out on patrol Wednesday.

Officers with the Crime Reduction Unit were in the 1800 block of Parkcrest Avenue when officers noticed two parked stolen cars round 4:35 p.m., June 12, according to a press release from police.

Officers located and arrested a suspect for possession of stolen property, RCMP said. The suspect was later released without process.

During the ensuing investigation police seized roughly three ounces of suspected illegal drugs, two loaded firearms, a stolen Chrysler sedan, Ford pickup truck and two motorcycles.

“These seizures are part of the continued efforts of our Crime Reduction Unit and frontline officers to suppress and reduce crime, with a focus on criminals who are known to be associated with the illegal drug trafficking trade,” Kamloops RCMP officer in charge Supt. Jeff Pelley said in the release.

“Officers interacted with several people known to police who were present at the Parkcrest location. Based on the items located and the ongoing investigation, we are confident that yesterday’s presence helped mitigate and prevent a potential act of violence.”

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-18146.
