A Kamloops man was arrested after reportedly acting erratically with what appeared to be a gun in one hand and a liquor bottle in the other.
Kamloops RCMP responded to a weapons complaint at a motel in the 500-block of Columbia Street West around 7 p.m. on April 10, according to a press release.
Police stopped traffic while the incident unfolded.
Unnamed guests at the Hospitality Inn reported seeing an angry man acting erratically, waving around what appeared to be a handgun in one hand and a liquor bottle in the other. He appeared to be staying with another hotel guest.
There were reportedly a dozen police vehicles there.
“Officers from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team along with the Police Dog Service assisted frontline officers in containing the area and safely taking the man into custody,” Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet, Kamloops RCMP, said in the release. “An imitation firearm was recovered in a subsequent search of the scene.”
The 47-year-old man has been released from custody while police investigate.
