A 28-year-old Kamloops man known to police will face a trial for an alleged sexual assault next year.

Sebastian William Bradshaw, 28, was charged with one count of sexual assault on March 10.

The victim's name is protected under a publication and Kamloops RCMP won't provide any information about their investigation because it's now before the courts.

Spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said the investigation was spurred by a sexual assault report in June. Court documents allege it happened a month earlier.

Bradshaw, who sometimes goes by the name "Dean," was previously investigated for sexually assaulting a victim under the age of 16 six years ago, but those two counts were stayed in 2018.

He was also investigated last year for impersonating a police officer. Kamloops RCMP seized items that resembled police equipment from his home and Bradshaw had his vehicle insurance suspended after his car was allegedly equipped with lights, sirens and antennas.

Those charges were also dropped in September 2022.

He's not currently in custody as he awaits his 2024 trial.
