Kamloops residents can now order library books along with their take out food.

In light of locations being closed to the public, all libraries in the Thompson Nicola Regional District are offering take out service, according to a news release.

They are preparing preparing books, audiobooks or DVDs in single-use paper bags for contactless pickup.

You can order books through the library's website here. Once you receive notification that your selections are available, you can schedule a pick up time.

Returned library items are quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours.

“Library Takeout is an important first step in returning to full library service,” chief librarian Judy Moore said in the release.

“While we've made great strides in delivering digital resources including e-books, audio books and film, we know that many patrons much prefer physical items. The Library Takeout program mirrors how our restaurants have transitioned to pick up during this health crisis. Just as food is essential to life, so is knowledge and connection - brain food so-to-speak!"
