KAMLOOPS - Golf might be an option for families this weekend as Mt. Paul Golf Course plans to be open, barring a return of winter weather.
Brian Wornstaff with the club says golfers can consider dusting of their clubs for the weekend.
“The driving range will be open over the weekend,” Wornstaff says. “Weather permitting the course will be open too, as long as we don’t get any of the white stuff.”
The course will be using temporary greens for now while grass recovers from winter on the course.
Wornstaff says if it wasn’t for the high winds, he expected to see some early season golfers out Friday, Feb. 5.
“If the wind wasn’t here today we’d have golfers,” he says. “It’s just a little bit to cold.”
Even though he's pretty sure the course will be open this weekend he advises people to call before showing up.
“If the wind is down and it gets a little bit warmer, I guarantee we’ll have people on the course,” Wornstaff says.
Kamloops saw some February golf last year, though this years high temperatures may mean an earlier season if snow stays away.
