Kamloops Fire Rescue investigating two weekend garage fires

KAMLOOPS - The investigation continues into a pair of garage fires on the weekend but neither blaze is considered suspicious.

Kamloops Fire Rescue says the first call came at 11:49 p.m., June 17, for a fire at 290 Nelson Ave. on the North Shore. It was small and located in a stand alone garage. The building suffered only minor damage.

Fire investigator Ray Webster says the second call came only about an hour-and-a-half later. This time the fire was in an attached carport at 25 Clark St. in the city's downtown.

“There’s not much to it. It wasn't much of a fire,” Webster says.

There was minimal damage, because it was mostly debris and a recycling bin involved.

No one was hurt in either blaze.

Both fires are under investigation but neither are considered suspicious, Webster says.
