KAMLOOPS — Kamloops firefighters responded to a grass fire near Tranquille on the Lake earlier this afternoon.
The call came in around 3 p.m. today, March 18.
Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. Mike Haines says the grass fire grew to five acres before crews put it out.
"They have got it knocked down right now and they are building a perimeter around it," Haines says. "We will likely have crews reamin on scene until sun down just to mop up and make sure it's out."
Three bush trucks and two water tender trucks are currently on scene, Haines says. Currently 12 city firefighters are on scene along with ten members from B.C. Wildfire Service.
There is no word on what started the fire, Haines says.
