After closing boat launches in Kamloops due to flooding concerns, the City will be reopening them tomorrow.
Effective June 17, boat launches at Pioneer Park, McArthur Island,and Thompson Drive will be open to the public, according to a City of Kamloops press release.
Rising river levels prompted the closure of boat launches May 28, however as the water levels have begun to recede, boaters can again access launches safely.
The section of River’s Trail behind Sandman Centre between Riverside Park and Pioneer Park will also reopen.
Anyone on the water is urged to be cautious and travel at idling speeds to prevent bank erosion. Banks may be unstable, so residents are advised to stay as far back as possible.
Sand and sandbags at fire stations throughout Kamloops will be collected by the City in the coming weeks.
